New Brunswick Soil & Crop Improvement Association
The soil and crop movement in New Brunswick began in 1977 through the formation of several local associations. The number of locals grew, and a provincial board comprised of two directors from each local was established -- New Brunswick Soil and Crop Improvement Association.
We have eight active locals: Northeast (CCNE), Northshore (Bathurst), Moncton, Chignecto (Sackville), Kings County, Central (Fredericton), Northwest (Edmundston) and Carleton County. Directors at both the local and provincial levels are volunteers. Annual membership fees are set by the provincial board with a portion remitted to the locals.

The Canadian Forage and Grassland Association launched their Habitat and Biodiversity Assessment Tool for the province of New Brunswick at the end of March. This tool is designed to help farmers better understand the different habitats present on their land and how to be good stewards of the biodiversity they work around.

L’Association canadienne pour les plantes fourragères a lancé son Outil d’évaluation de l'habitat et de la biodiversité au Nouveau-Brunswick à la fin de mars. Cet outil est conçu pour aider les agriculteurs à mieux comprendre les différents habitats présents sur leurs terres et comment être de bons intendants de la biodiversité autour de laquelle ils travaillent.

NBSCIA, NBDAAF and LLNB have many weather stations across the province collecting data on soil temperature, wind speed, wind direction, humidity, temperature, and precipitation. Anyone can see the weather data collected from these stations using the Davis WeatherLink App. This app is free to download and you can search for Davis stations to pin from around the province and even outside of Canada. If you haven't already, I suggest checking it out!

If you are a host farm to one of NBSCIA's stations, our coordinators with be coming around to calibrate them this month preparing for our weather mapping data to be collected starting May 1.
AASCNB, MAAPNB et LVNB ont de nombreuses stations météorologiques dans toute la province qui recueillent des données sur la température du sol, la vitesse du vent, la direction du vent, l’humidité, la température et les précipitations. N’importe qui peut voir les données météorologiques recueillies à partir de ces stations en utilisant l’application Davis WeatherLink. Cette application est gratuite à télécharger et vous pouvez rechercher des stations de Davis à épingler dans toute la province et même à l’extérieur du Canada. Si vous ne l’avez pas déjà fait, je vous suggère de le vérifier!
